Shooting Live:
Very good friends of mine are in a band titled A Whisper Rising, I have gone to numerous of their shows to take pictures of them playing live and I must say it is much easier said than done. It has been something I have always struggled with, I am so glad though I am able to practice shooting with them at their shows. I have selected a few pictures to show and would like over all feed back. I always chose not to shoot with a flash and use the macro or just turn my flash off. After doing this I fix my f-stop and shutter speed at a rate where I will be able to capture the image very quickly, this takes the most time for me--figuring out what setting would be best for the different lighting. The picture below on the was shot with an f-stop number of 3.5 and the shutter speed was set at 1/20 of a second. The lighting in this is very subtle and I did very little editing to this post shooting, which is what I typically do. In this picture I am instantly reminded of Kurt Cobain.
I hope you all enjoyed reading this, let me know what you think. I enjoy hearing feedback about my work!
I really enjoy the first photograph of him playing the guitar and I love how your camera captured the lighting. I also really like the angle you shot this at. I give you a lot of credit shooting this in action. The other two the only thing I suggest that may make this photo a little better is if you left a little space by his elbow in the one photo and a little space at the bottom of his shoe. Just minor things that I suggest.
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelsey! framing is the one thing I always struggle with while shooting live, I will take a really nice picture but realize it is not framed how I wanted it. But it is something i am continuing to work on! :)
